Supporting Trail Stewards: Oregon Tool, Inc. Hosts Chainsaw Maintenance Clinic for Trailkeepers of Oregon

On February 10, 2025, Oregon Tool, Inc. had the privilege of hosting a volunteer group from Trailkeepers of Oregon (TKO) for a hands-on chainsaw maintenance clinic. TKO, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving and maintaining recreational trails across the state, regularly uses chainsaws and crosscut saws to remove blowdown trees and keep trails accessible for all users. This event provided an opportunity to support their mission by enhancing their knowledge of cutting system maintenance.

TKO-Clinic_Blog-Post_1080x1080Held at Oregon Tool, Inc. headquarters in Portland, Oregon, the clinic welcomed 16 participants who brought their own powerheads and cutting systems to receive personalized instruction on best maintenance practices. The Oregon® team guided attendees through essential upkeep techniques, covering powerhead maintenance, chain sharpening, and bar and sprocket care. The interactive session allowed participants to apply what they learned directly to their own equipment, ensuring they left with valuable hands-on experience.

Beyond the training, the event also served as an opportunity for our team to engage with a passionate group of volunteers, gaining insight into their product preferences, maintenance habits, and challenges. The discussions provided valuable feedback that will help us continue developing innovative solutions for prosumers, rural maintainers, and weekend warriors alike.

A huge thank you to everyone who participated, and to TKO for the incredible work they do for Oregon’s trails. We look forward to future collaborations and more opportunities to support those who keep our outdoor spaces accessible and enjoyable for all!

This initiative aligned with our t.r.e.e. commitment to stewardship and sustainability, emphasizing the vital role of proper tool maintenance in ensuring both user safety and equipment longevity. By equipping trail stewards with the knowledge and hands-on experience needed to care for their cutting systems, we not only support their essential work in maintaining public trails but also promote responsible tool ownership.
